With this piece I was considering how different stages of clay could affect the meaning of a piece. For this piece I wanted to highlight the parts of the fish discarded when cutting fish fillets. The head and fins of the walleye are bisque fired making them permanent while the body- designed to look like the bottom of a river, is left as raw clay. When presenting this piece I poured water over it to cause the raw clay to dissolve. In doing this I wanted to represent the interconnectedness of walleyes with their river habitats. When fish species are overfished their environment will often suffer too.
