Inspired by the 2013 widespread star fish wasting disease along the coast of Western America. This event mainly impacted the Sunflower Sea Star population which cause the ecosystem to then be overrun by the purple sea urchin. In this sculpture I wanted to explore this narrative of this systemic ecosystem collapse with a childlike esthetic through the materials used to create an inviting visual with a serious narrative.
